How to rotate pages in a PDF
Fix sideways scans and upside-down pages for good. Turn a single page or the whole document, save it, and the PDF opens the right way up for everyone, in every app.
- 1
Add your PDF
Drop it onto the box above or tap “choose a file”. Every page appears as a preview, exactly as it looks now.
- 2
Rotate the pages that need it
Use the arrows under a page to turn it left or right by 90°. Press twice for 180°. To turn everything at once, use “Rotate all pages”.
- 3
Review your changes
Rotated pages are highlighted so you can see what will change. “Reset” puts every page back the way it was.
- 4
Save the rotated PDF
Press Save. The new file downloads straight away with “-rotated” added to its name.
Rotate for good, not just on screen
Most PDF viewers have a rotate button, but it usually only changes your view. Close the file, or send it to someone else, and the page is sideways again. This tool saves the new orientation inside the PDF itself, so it displays correctly in every viewer, on every device, and when it’s printed.
That matters when you’re submitting documents. A reviewer who has to tilt their head to read your scanned passport or receipt is not a happy reviewer.
Everything else stays intact
Rotation is changed in place rather than by rebuilding the document. That means bookmarks, links, fillable form fields and document information all survive, and nothing is re-compressed. Text stays selectable and images keep their full resolution.
Pages that were already rotated are handled correctly too: turning a page that was set to 90° by another 90° gives you 180°, exactly as you’d expect.
Why scans come out sideways
Scanners and phone scanning apps try to guess which way up a page is, and they often guess wrong with pages that have little text, photos, or text running in two directions. Landscape documents fed through a portrait scanner, spreadsheets printed sideways and receipts photographed at an angle are the usual suspects.
If you also need to put pages in a different order or remove a few while you’re fixing them, Organize PDF lets you rotate, reorder and delete pages in one go.
Double-sided scans with every other page upside down
A very common problem: you scan a stack of double-sided pages and every back page comes out upside down. It happens when the sheets are flipped along the wrong edge, and it gives you a document where pages 2, 4, 6 and so on all need turning 180°.
To fix it, rotate each upside-down page twice with the arrows underneath it. Rotated pages are highlighted, so it’s easy to see which ones you’ve done and spot any you’ve missed. If some pages are also blank backs of single-sided sheets, remove them afterwards with Delete PDF Pages to keep the file short and small.
Next time, look for a “long edge” or “book” duplex setting on your scanner, which keeps the backs the right way up.
Private by design
Your document is opened and changed by your own browser and never uploaded. There’s no account, no server copy and nothing to delete afterwards. It’s a simple, safe way to tidy up scans of personal documents like IDs, bills and letters.

Frequently asked questions
Can I rotate just one page?
Yes. Use the arrows under that page. Other pages are left exactly as they are.
How do I turn a page upside down?
Rotate it twice in the same direction to turn it 180°.
Can I rotate all pages at once?
Yes. Use the “Rotate all pages” buttons at the top to turn every page left or right by 90°.
Does rotating reduce quality?
No. Only the page’s orientation setting changes; the content isn’t re-rendered or re-compressed.
Will the rotation stick when I open the file elsewhere?
Yes. The new orientation is saved in the PDF, so it shows correctly in any PDF viewer and when printed.
Are bookmarks and links kept?
Yes. Rotate PDF changes the file in place, so bookmarks, links and form fields are all preserved.
Can I rotate pages on my phone?
Yes. Open this page in your phone’s browser, tap the arrows under the pages you want to turn, and save. It works on iPhone, iPad and Android.
